What is NCI?
NCI is the name many Houston parents use. The official name today is Child Care Scholarships, and it runs through Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast. If someone told you to "look for an NCI daycare", this is what they mean.
Who decides
We don’t decide who qualifies. Workforce Solutions does. It looks at income and family size, and at whether parents are working, in school or job training, or looking for work. The income limits change each year, so please check the current limits on their page.
How to apply
- Apply onlineUse the state’s child care portal.
- Gather your papersYou will need things like proof of where you live and 13 weeks of income for working members of your household. Workforce Solutions has the full list.
- Wait to hear backOnce the office has everything, it has 20 days to process it. There is a wait list right now, so it helps to apply early.
- Name us as your providerTell Workforce Solutions you would like to use My Kid's Daycare, then call (281) 760-1951 so we know to expect you.
